Terms & Conditions – Course Bookings

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings made with Manchester Dog Grooming School for dog grooming training courses.

By booking a course with Manchester Dog Grooming School, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Manchester Dog Grooming School provides professional dog grooming education, including theory learning, practical tuition, portfolio development and accredited training where applicable.

2. Course Bookings and Payment

2.1 A course place is confirmed once payment has been received and the required enrolment information has been provided.

2.2 Course fees must be paid in accordance with the payment option selected at the time of booking.

2.3 Once payment has been received, Manchester Dog Grooming School will immediately begin preparing the learner's course.

This preparation may include:

creating learner records;
preparing induction documentation;
setting up online learning access;
creating digital portfolios;
registering learners where applicable;
preparing course materials;
allocating tutor time;
reserving practical training places.

2.4 These preparation services are undertaken specifically for the enrolled learner and cannot normally be reversed once completed.

3. Enrolment and Administration Costs

3.1 Course fees include an initial enrolment and administration element of £500.

3.2 This element covers work undertaken immediately following booking, including:

learner setup;
administrative processing;
preparation of course documentation;
creation of learner accounts and portfolios;
course planning;
allocation of training resources.

3.3 Where cancellation occurs after these services have commenced, Manchester Dog Grooming School may retain an amount reflecting the services already provided and costs incurred, subject to the learner's statutory rights.

4. Cancellation Rights

4.1 Where a booking is made online or by telephone, consumers may have a statutory 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

4.2 To exercise cancellation rights, the learner must notify Manchester Dog Grooming School in writing within the applicable cancellation period.

4.3 Where no services have commenced, a full refund may be available in accordance with consumer legislation.

4.4 Where Manchester Dog Grooming School has already commenced services, including administration, learner setup, preparation of materials, online access or portfolio creation, any refund may be reduced to reflect the value of services already supplied.

5. Immediate Commencement of Course Services

5.1 Due to the nature of our training programmes, course preparation begins immediately following payment.

5.2 By booking a course, learners acknowledge that Manchester Dog Grooming School may begin providing enrolment and preparation services before any practical training date.

5.3 Where a learner requests or agrees for services to begin during any statutory cancellation period, the learner acknowledges that cancellation rights may be affected in accordance with applicable consumer legislation.

6. Online Learning and Digital Materials

6.1 Some courses include online theory learning, digital resources and portfolio work.

6.2 Online learning access may be provided immediately following enrolment.

6.3 Once online learning resources have been prepared and made available, cancellation will be considered in accordance with the services already supplied and applicable consumer legislation.

6.4 Learners remain responsible for completing online elements within the timescales provided.

7. Practical Training Courses

7.1 Dog grooming is a practical, skill-based profession requiring hands-on instruction and supervised training.

7.2 Practical training involves:

tutor demonstrations;
supervised learner practice;
use of equipment and facilities;
professional guidance and feedback.

7.3 Practical training places are limited and allocated specifically to individual learners.

7.4 Once practical training has commenced:

tutor time has been allocated;
training resources have been committed;
the learner has received tuition and practical instruction;
the benefit of the training cannot be returned.

7.5 Because practical skills and knowledge are transferred immediately during training, refunds will not normally be available once practical training has commenced, except where required by law.

8. Cancellation Before Practical Training Begins

8.1 Where cancellation occurs before practical training begins, Manchester Dog Grooming School will consider:

administration already completed;
learner setup;
online access provided;
materials prepared;
resources allocated;
services already supplied.

8.2 Any refund offered will reflect the value of services already provided.

9. Course Places and Deferrals

9.1 Course places are allocated specifically to learners and cannot always be transferred or resold.

9.2 Requests to change course dates or defer training will be considered on an individual basis and may be subject to availability.

10. Non-Attendance

10.1 Failure to attend booked training without reasonable notice may result in loss of training time.

10.2 Non-attendance does not automatically entitle a learner to a refund.

11. Certificates and Completion

11.1 Certificates are issued only when all required course criteria, assessments and portfolio requirements have been completed.

11.2 Completion requirements vary depending on the course undertaken.

12. Complaints

12.1 We aim to provide a high standard of training and customer service.

12.2 Any concerns should first be raised with Manchester Dog Grooming School in writing so that we have the opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.

13. General

13.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

13.2 Nothing within these Terms affects a consumer's statutory rights.

We also collect course data, such as responses to in-video quizzes, standalone quizzes, exams, and surveys. You should not include any Personal Data or other information of a personal or sensitive nature, whether relating to you or another person, on assignments, exams, or surveys, except for information required to participate in or submit such assignments, exams, or surveys.

Identity Verification. The school may offer you the ability to verify your identity for select Services. In order to enrol for these Services, you may be required to provide us or our third-party identity verification vendor with Personal Data such as your name, address, date of birth, a headshot taken using a webcam, and a photo identification document. Additionally, if you apply for financial aid in connection with these Services, you may be required to provide information regarding your income.
Communications with the school. We may receive Personal Data when you send us an email message or otherwise contact us.
Third Party Sites. We may receive Personal Data when you access or log-in to a third party site, e.g., Facebook, from our Sites. This may include the text and/or images of your Personal Data available from the third party site.

Partner sites. Partner sites providing Content Offering-related tools and services to the school users may collect nonfinancial individual-level user data regarding the individual’s use of that partner site while the partner sites provide those services to the school. If you choose to post personally identifiable information, such personally identifiable information may be collected during your use of the Forums. We may publish this information via extensions of our platform that use third-party services, like mobile applications. We reserve the right to reuse Forum posts that contain personally identifiable information in future versions of the Content Offerings, and to enhance future Content Offerings. We may archive this information and/or use it for future communications with you and/or your designee(s), and/or provide it to the Content Provider, business partners, or the instructor(s) associated with the courses you have taken. We may also use or publish posts submitted on the Forums without using personally identifiable information.
Participation in Content Offerings. We use the Personal Data that we collect from you when you participate in a Content Offering through the Site for processing purposes, including but not limited to tracking attendance, progress, and completion of the Content Offerings. We may also share your Personal Data and your performance in a given Content Offering with the instructor or instructors who taught it, with teaching assistants or other individuals designated by the instructor or instructors to assist with the creation, modification, or operation of the Content Offering, and with the Content Provider(s) with which they are affiliated. We may also use the information generated when taking a Content Offering or using the Services for predictive analysis of your performance in the Content Offerings. Also, we may archive this information and/or use it for future communications with you, where we are legally entitled to do so.
Use of Interactive/Personalised Site Features. We use Personal Data to facilitate and personalise your interaction with Site features such as chatbots, automated translation and grading functionality, tailored recommendations, and learner engagement features. These may utilise machine learning and/or AI tools. Where required or otherwise appropriate, you will be provided with additional information, in advance, about processing of your Personal Data via these features, including the existence of any automated decision-making where relevant (along with meaningful information about the logic involved, as well as the significance and the envisaged consequences of such processing).
Identity Verification. For Services that require identity verification, we may use the Personal Data that we collect for verifying your identity, and for authenticating that submissions made on the Site were made by you. This service may be provided through a third-party identity verification vendor. Your photo identification document will be deleted after successful verification of your profile information.
Communications with or from the school When you send us an email message, use in-platform messaging/chat features (which may utilise technology provided by third party service providers contracted by the school or otherwise contact us, we may record and use the information provided by you to respond to your communication and/or for other purposes described in this Privacy Notice or in other privacy information provided to you during your interaction with our communication systems.
